Jin Sakai is playable again in Ghost of Yōtei's new Most Wanted mode, which arrived with the Complete Edition on PS5 on October 1, 2026. The release marks the original game's first anniversary and also adds Echoes of Sekigahara, a story expansion about Atsu's past.

Daisuke Tsuji has returned to record new dialogue for Jin. His appearance belongs to Most Wanted, a non-canonical single-player mode, rather than the new story expansion.

How Most Wanted works

Sucker Punch describes Most Wanted as its spin on a roguelike. You accept a bounty to start a combat survival run, fight through enemies and earn perks to build up your character. You can also unlock more playable characters, each with different combat specialties.

Atsu specialises in dual katana, Oyuki uses the kusarigama and Nagato fights with a yari. Jin brings back all four of his katana stances from Ghost of Tsushima, so returning players have a familiar way to approach enemy weaknesses.

In PlayStation's October 2 interview, Atsu actor Erika Ishii described Most Wanted as more mystical and heightened, comparable to the mythological approach of Ghost's multiplayer content. That gives Jin's return a clear place outside the main story's canon. Ghost of Yōtei Legends remains the separate online co-op mode.

Echoes of Sekigahara explores Atsu's past

Echoes of Sekigahara splits its story between the present and flashbacks to Atsu's time on mainland Japan. It introduces Nagato, someone from her past, and sends Atsu into a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his followers, the Vipers.

The flashbacks cover Atsu's time during the Battle of Sekigahara, before she returned home and began her quest for vengeance. The expansion also adds enemies, heavy weapons, armour sets and dyes.

Ishii returned for the expansion at least a couple of months after finishing the original game's recording, and recorded new dialogue for Most Wanted too. The flashbacks meant portraying Atsu at different stages of her life. Ishii said they had wanted DLC that explored her backstory after seeing what Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island expansion did for Jin.

What's included, and what existing owners get

The Complete Edition bundles the original Ghost of Yōtei campaign, Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted. It also includes the Digital Deluxe Edition's in-game content and Charm of Hokkyokusei, plus new Photo Mode stamps, additional New Game+ cosmetics and new Trophies for both the expansion and Most Wanted.

If you already own Ghost of Yōtei, you can buy the Complete Edition Upgrade to access Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted. Sucker Punch announced a US price of $14.99 for the upgrade, so existing players have an option without buying the full game again.

The October patch also brings free additions to every Ghost of Yōtei owner. Beauty of Yōtei lets you browse Ezo's environments in a screensaver-like mode and use them for Photo Mode captures. The patch adds new Watanabe Mode tracks, an option to wear one armour set's appearance while keeping another set's stats, and a high-contrast accessibility option. None of those additions requires the paid upgrade.
