Escape Academy 2 joins Game Pass on November 5. Its explorable campus, full-campaign co-op and optional No-Timer Mode offer different ways to puzzle together.

Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on 5 November 2026, according to Xbox's newly announced November lineup. For anyone looking for a puzzle game to play with a partner, the useful detail is how much of the school now exists between escape rooms. The campus itself has become a place to explore, with secrets and routes to work out together.

The 3 November Game Pass announcement lists cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC support. It names Ultimate and PC Game Pass for this release, so do not assume a Premium or Essential subscription includes it on launch day.

Coin Crew Games has also confirmed a PS5 release on 5 November, and the Steam listing carries the same date. The Game Pass addition is this week's news; the broader release date was announced in October.

The space between puzzles gets a purpose

The original game's more linear structure gives way to an explorable campus. In her developer walkthrough on PlayStation Blog, art director Michelle Huttunen describes how the team moved beyond the first game's 2D map and made the school a larger part of solving things.

The Humanities Campus is a useful example. You can see its keyhole-shaped fountain before you can reach the area. That gives the player a question to carry through the surrounding school: how do we get over there? The answer depends on exploring, rather than simply choosing another room from a menu.

Coin Crew says the team initially found that area too open and revised it with interactive landmarks, side quests and escapes. That is a more informative detail than the size of the map. A bigger hub earns its place when noticing something or taking a detour gives you another problem to solve.

The Steam description adds hidden tunnels and dangerous traps to that picture. It also establishes a new story about the school's founding, so returning players have a fresh mystery and newcomers are not being asked to arrive with a solved case file.

Co-op includes the campus

Two-player play is available locally and online. The developer says it extends through the campus, story and puzzles, rather than being restricted to a separate selection of challenge rooms.

That matters when choosing a game for a shared evening. Exploring between the formal escapes is part of the same session. You can investigate the school together instead of treating every departure from a room as downtime before the next puzzle starts.

Steam lists split-screen couch co-op as well as online co-op. The announcement does not establish cross-platform multiplayer, however. Local and online support should not be read as a promise that a PS5 player and a PC player can join the same game.

You can leave the clock out of it

The optional No-Timer Mode is one of the clearest reasons to look more closely at the sequel. The Steam page says it allows players to solve puzzles at their own pace.

That changes the choice for anyone who likes working out an answer but dislikes a countdown hanging over the conversation. You can take the time to compare clues or let another person follow an idea through. The puzzles remain the subject of the evening.

It is an option, so a pair who enjoys time pressure can make a different choice. We have not tested the mode, and the store description does not establish every detail of how it affects individual rooms or rewards.

Check the PC requirements before launch

The current Steam listing asks for 16GB of RAM and 5GB of available storage. Its Windows minimum lists a Core i5-8400 and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of video memory. Recommended hardware includes a Ryzen 7 2700 and RTX 3060.

Check that live listing if you are preparing a PC. An October developer post listed Windows 11, while the current store requirements include Windows 10/11. The store also provides separate SteamOS and Linux requirements. Those entries are more useful for planning than assuming the sequel has the same requirements as the first game.

For subscribers, the immediate decision is straightforward. Check that your tier includes the game, decide whether you want local or online co-op, and look at No-Timer Mode if the puzzle-solving appeals more than the rush.
