Minecraft's Nintendo Switch 2 edition launches on October 27, 2026, and pre-orders opened on October 7. Nintendo's announcement also details a limited upgrade offer for owners of the digital Switch version.
Eligible digital Switch owners can get the Switch 2 Standard Edition free by January 31, 2027. Japan and Taiwan are exceptions, with upgrade fees of 100 JPY and 30 NTD respectively. Deluxe and Ultimate Collection upgrades are available at discounted prices. The offer described by Nintendo covers digital ownership.
The new edition supports Vibrant Visuals and includes the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack. Vibrant Visuals does not work in split-screen or with some Marketplace content, so the lighting changes won't apply everywhere.
Nintendo's Switch 2 store page confirms that worlds from the Switch version can carry over.
