Gears of War: E-Day launched worldwide on October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Steam. The Coalition's prequel is also available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, following five days of Premium Edition early access.
Xbox Wire's launch post confirms the game is now available. Its story returns to the start of the Locust invasion, with Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago fighting through the city of Kalona.
What the launch includes
The campaign follows the opening days of Emergence Day. Xbox's guide describes cover-based firefights, melee combat and optional side missions that can reward players with weapon modifications.
The game's product information also lists Horde Siege, a four-player cooperative mode, and Versus multiplayer. Two-player split-screen is available on console.
Early access has ended
The October 1 early-access announcement applied to Premium Edition owners and Game Pass subscribers who bought the Premium Upgrade. With the standard release now live, that upgrade is no longer needed just to start playing through the eligible Game Pass plans.
The Coalition's release briefing confirms Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass access from October 6.
